Luminous systems

Light elements are generally included in many keyboards developed today.

Apart from using light-emitting diodes (LED), components which PIM Industries has been using since the mid-1990s for reminder lights, other applications have been developed so as to constantly offer you more solutions.

 Examples illustrating our possibilities

  • LED centred on the key: to avoid offsetting light reminders beside keys or to reduce the size of the keyboard, PIM Industries suggests incorporating an LED (one or two colours) at the centre of the key (dome switch or Duraswitch® technology). The actuation feeling is identical to the other keys, with a light as well.
  • Light circuits: they are used to independently control and/or position light points on curved or long surfaces, advantageously replacing optic fibres and cables. Consisting of polyester, conducting ink, diodes and adhesive, they are easily connected via flat jumpers and provide great freedom for positioning and die-making
  • Electroluminescent inks: they provide diffuse back-lighting, particularly for night use. Their composition with a layer of luminescent ink between layers of conducting inks provides diffuse light in all the areas required (whether active or not).

All these systems, whether built into keyboards or not, are very small and ranges allow specific supply according to particular requests (colour, size, light intensity, electronic constraints...).
