Duraswitch® technology

Developed under an American licence and protected by many international patents, Duraswitch® technology is used to integrate applications which were not previously compatible with the idea of a "flat" keyboard: large keys (pressure area up to Ø 50 mm), selector or rotary potentiometer, joystick system...

These applications can be used in addition to standard technologies (flat keyboard, thermoforming, dome switch...).

Based on very concentrated magnetic effects to avoid interference with neighbouring electronics, parts designed in this way have a longer life span than those involving mechanical deformation (thermoforming, dome switch, mechanical potentiometer...).

Apart from the advantages inherent to membrane keyboard technology, Duraswitch® technology provides benefits in production of the complete unit: improved tightness, elimination of unit wiring and the support cut-out to insert electromechanical components...

The 3 main ranges of keyboards using Duraswitch® technology

Large keys

Large actuation zone (maximum Ø 50 mm), adaptable to size and shape (circle, square, rectangle).
An almost uniform tactile sensation across the whole surface for actuation which is off-centre and/or using several fingers.
A life span of more than 15 million actuation operations (non-destructive testing).

Rotary control

A single technical solution for several applications: rotary potentiometer, position selector, encoder...
Direct incorporation in a membrane keyboard.
Standard rod (Ø 6 mm with flat part) for use with any type of cap (plastic, metal, coloured...).
Elimination of holes and operations needed to install electromechanical components.
Improved tightness via the front panel.
Guaranteed up to 100 000 rotations.

Joystick

A single key which can control up to 8 positions.
Silk-screen printed imprint for defining an incremental or free selector application
Use with a polyester or silicone elastomer overlay (particularly for shaping a pin to facilitate handling).
A life span of more than a million rotations in silicone joystick configuration.
